The Callum Younger Reach Fund helps young people in Shetland fulfil their dreams in life. The fund was set up by Malcolm Younger in memory of his son, after he sadly passed away of an unknown heart condition in April 2005, at the age of just ten.
The fund was set up the following June and since then more than £70,000 has been given out to various young people and groups throughout Shetland. Money is raised through various events, most notably the annual Lerwick Midsummer Carnival, which is well supported thanks to generous donations by the Shetland community.
Applications are welcome from any young person under the age of 18 or young persons' group in Shetland, whatever your goal may be. Grants are awarded to cover the costs of anything from training to equipment, or even transport to the mainland to help make their goals more obtainable.
If you would like to be considered for funding, you can download an application form here. Or you can collect one from our office: Millgaet Media, Toll Clock Shopping Centre, Lerwick, or email info@millgaet.com to receive an electronic version.
For more information, contact Malcolm Younger on 01595 690090 or email malcolm@millgaet.com.
